Jajo hires candidate-elect Ryan Schafer
WICHITA, Kan. (July 196, 2010) — With two months until graduation and his internship at Jajo Inc. coming to an end, Ryan Schafer made headlines in March when he turned his job search into a political campaign to land his dream job as an advertising copywriter. The result? Schafer is living the dream – he was hired in May as an associate copywriter and is the latest creative talent to join the Jajo team.
“So many friends were having a hard time finding internships and jobs after graduation,” said Schafer. “And being in advertising – creativity is king. So I decided I wanted to do something different to show my interest and originality. I came up with two concepts and eventually decided on a political campaign. It’s a daunting thing to stick your neck out like that, but thankfully, it paid off better than I could ever imagine.”
Without his colleagues knowing, including the managing partners, Schafer held a press conference where he announced his run for associate copywriter, revealed his logo and launched his campaign’s Facebook fan page. The campaign continued with everything from bumper stickers to yard signs.
“Ryan ran a smart campaign that demonstrated guts, creativity and passion,” said Steve Randa, Jajo managing partner. “We would be foolish to let someone like him get away. He’s a great addition to our team and we’re thrilled to see where his enthusiasm takes us.”
To add to his winning streak, Schafer was named the Student Marketer of the Year by the Wichita American Marketing Association at their third annual Marketer of the Year Awards on June 17.
“Watch out Wichita, I think Ryan is just getting started,” said Randa.
